Great Cruise!
December
Pros: Ship crew was great overall. Stateroom was very comforable and clean.
Cons: Food wasn't the best and drinks package (Classic) left a bit to be desired.
Recommended: Yes
Compared to the Edge-class of Celebrity ships, the Equinox was a little lacking. The food in particular was not nearly as good, and the choices were not as varied. We also had one night of very poor service in the main dining room, and one night that was sub-average. The Classic Drinks package was not what I expected. Drinks were limited to $10 each, and there were LOTS of drinks that were over that price on the various bar menus. For wine there were only 2 reds and 2 whites to choose from - and it never varied the entire week. Beer selections were pretty basic as well. It didn't include any of the flavored Selzer waters that were offered on the ship, or the smoothies at the spa cafe even though these were less than the $10 amount - just didn't seem right. I wouldn't choose this drinks package again on Celebrity. If I go for a drinks package I would definitely get the Premium.

Transatlantic Cruise
November
Pros: Dining Staff
Cons:
Recommended: Yes
Peter, Our Waiter: Peter was incredibly kind, attentive, and charming throughout our dining experience. His thoughtful gesture of offering us a beautiful handmade paper rose truly stood out and made our evening even more special. Cynthia, Our Assistant Waiter: Cynthia was patient and funny, adding warmth to every meal. She took the time to kindly explain the differences between the various breadsticks, making even the smallest details feel enjoyable and personalized. Cecilia, Our Sommelier: Cecilia had a lovely smile and a talent for making great wine recommendations. Her attentiveness went above and beyond, as she made a point to recognize us even at breakfast, which made us feel truly valued and welcomed.

Celebrity is not the crusie line we remembered from before
June
Pros: Nice staff, but not great, especially on Concierge level
Cons: Ship is pretty worn out, even though we were told that it went thru a refit not long ago
Recommended: No
We remember Celebrity Lines, and especially the concierge level, to be top of the class in service, quality, staff attention, and facilities. Our recent trip - not so much. We never even saw our "concierge Person" where on a previous Celebrity concierge level cruise, he contacted us daily on anything to make our trip more eventful. Breakfast is available in the room, but its only continental. It used to be full menu. Now they charge $10 visit fee for the full breakfast. Thats kind of an insult especially since we were already paying for a higher level of service in the Concierge class. Repairs were not done as requested. Granted, they were minor but still irratating. Reported on Wednesday (still had nearly a week left on cruise), not even acknowledged by the maintenance staff. Room steward. got the job done. Nothing special. no towel animals. frequently forgot our request each night for ice. Dining staff: probably the best of the crew in terms of doing what was needed to make us happy. But seemed harried, like they were always a few people short. Entertainment: their extravaganzas were the quality of a good high school production- in our opinion, a long ways from the quality of off-Broadway. The lead singers all tried to outdo each other, at times nearly shouting. Didnt go to the other evening entertainment, didnt want to be even more dissappointed than we already were. But didnt hear much positive about the shows in general from other passengers. Celebrity Excursions: Overcrowded and overpriced. Only benefit was that if you are late getting back, the ship waits. We did several because we dont plan to visit Italy and France again, but only 2 we remembered: the Dining with Guido because he was so engaged with his people, and the trip to Sorrento because Aldo our guide really did stand out as a generally nice guy who seemed to care about what we saw and did in our free time. Stay away from the soap factory in Marsaille - BORING! Check in/out: Efficient. as expected We werent mistreated at all but we certainly didnt get the special attention we previously had on Celebrity. We once considered Celebrity as the top of the RC fleet. After taking a cruise on a RC ship a year ago, it was obvious to us that Celebrity has either decided to downgrade their services and offerings, or RC has stepped up and now exceeds Celebrity.

A good experience
April
Pros: Restful and Pleasant
Cons: Not enough time in selected ports. I would have preferred to avoid Porta and be in Lisbon at least 2 days
Recommended: Yes
The ship needed upgrading. The balcony was in bad need of painting and showed a lot of rust. The food was acceptable and good but not outstanding. Service was outstanding on all levels . The staff was impeccably dressed, and extremely courteous at all times. The entertainment was good and enjoyable for the exception of one show . Cruise Director outstanding and enthusiastic. The room was very nice and the bedding and linens also very good.

Older Ship
February
Pros: The Retreat.
Cons: Can’t access The Retreat Sundeck if you need a walker, wheelchair etc. I am on a walker, so was only able to manage one trip up to it. That should be corrected!
Recommended: Yes
Unfortunately, the ship is old and that is reflected in the colors, worn fabrics, etc. In our cabin the balcony floor had a large “gash” on the floor. Other than the ship needing a total refurbishment, and some ADA compliance, it was great. We usually do not like ships this large, but The Retreat (Royal Suite) was fabulous, as were our butler, steward, all speciality restaurant crew, The Retreat lounge crew is fantastic too…got me a wheelchair for disembarking! Would definitely go on another Celebrity cruise…,on a brand new ship (The Retreat Sundeck issue apparently has been handled, in The Retreat, in Royal Suite.

Holiday Cruise
December
Pros: Quiet, relaxing
Cons: Better choice of music
Recommended: Yes
I loved the ship, i just which there was a variety of music. I feel the 80's was played everyday. I was disappointed that there was no Latin bands or music to dance to.
